Leadership and the M.A. Program

To prepare for their service and witness as principals, ACE Leadership participants undergo an intensive formation and preparation program designed and administered by the University of Notre Dame. Under the direction of the Rev. Ronald J. Nuzzi, Ph.D., the ACE Leadership Program integrates graduate level coursework with an administrative internship experience, allowing potential leaders to work towards state certification and licensure for service as school principals while teaching and helping lead a Catholic school.

Courses are offered through a 42-credit hour program, delivered over 26 months, including five-week summer sessions, a distance-learning enhanced administrative internship during the school year, and annual retreats. The centerpiece of the summer programs is an innovative, inter-disciplinary curriculum, taught by faculty from ACE and a distinguished national faculty. ACE Leadership participants receive on-site support from mentor principals and occasional site visits by ACE faculty and staff to monitor professional progress. The curriculum is specifically tailored to foster Catholic school leadership. The program culminates in both a master’s degree and in administrative certification in the state of Indiana and applicaton for reciprocity.
