Benefits of ACE South Bend

ACE South Bend is able to offer its members professional preparation and unique benefits that will help you engage deeply in service with strong levels of support.

Cost-Free M.Ed.

ACE South Bend teachers are enrolled in the fully-funded graduate degree, a Master of Education, from the University of Notre Dame, including tuition and graduate school fees, valued in excess of $45,000.

In ACE South Bend, you are required to purchase your own textbooks (roughly $200-300 each summer) and are also responsible for the costs associated with standardized testing (GRE, PRAXIS, etc.).

Upon completion of the Master of Education degree program, members are eligible for teaching licensure in the state of Indiana.

Living Stipend

During the academic year, ACE South Bend members teach in participating Catholic schools in the South Bend area, for which they receive an annual stipend of $12,000 from their school.

Health Insurance

As employees of the schools in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, ACE South Bend teachers have the option of participation in the diocesan health insurance plan.

AmeriCorps Education Award

Most ACE South Bend participants qualify for an education award of $4,725 from the Corporation for National Service.

Community and Spirituality

The ACE South Bend members participate fully in ACE community-building activities during the summer sessions and in the retreat program, including the annual December Retreat.
