What is unique about your community?

Distance-wise, our community is pretty far from other ACE communities. St. Petersburg is the closest at four hours away. As a community of 7, we have many different interests and personalities, and have a lot of fun spending time together. We live in a convent on the grounds of Bishop Kenny High School, and our house is one of the biggest in ACE. We each have our own rooms and even have spare bedrooms. We also have a chapel where we celebrate Mass with our chaplain once a month. Bishop Kenny’s amenities are available to us, so we have tennis courts, basketball courts, and a track just out the front door. Jacksonville has been hosting ACE teachers since ACE began, and we have an incredibly supportive and involved superintendent who goes above and beyond to make us feel at home.

Provide a brief description of Jacksonville:

Jacksonville is known as the River City because the St. John’s River flows right through the city. We live on the river and can look across the water to the NFL stadium. Jacksonville is the largest city per square mile in the country. The city is very spread out and each area of the city has its own flavor. The Florida weather is beautiful—sunny and warm almost everyday. Like the rest of Florida, Jacksonville has many golf courses and hosts The Players Championship each year. In 2005, Jacksonville hosted the Superbowl.
