Provide a brief description of SE LA:

Although known as the South-East Los Angeles Community, we are actually located in Downey, on the border of Paramount and Southgate. As our students point out, Downey is NOT L.A. Sometimes overshadowed by the large Los Angeles area, Downey is also a great little place in itself. For instance, the oldest operating McDonald‚s (featuring a red-and-white stripped exterior) is located in Downey, as is the world’s first Taco Bell. Our town is also seen in Curb Your Enthusiasm, 24, & Old Navy commercials.

What do you like most about SE LA?

ACE in Los Angeles isn’t just about lesson plans and grading. It is also about warm weather and year-round beach trips. Tired of snow? Join us in our backyard for sunshine and fresh oranges in mid-January! Besides the sun and the beach, Los Angeles has just about everything anyone could ever want – mountains with hiking, great eating places of every ethnic cuisine, & fun museums. The sun is always shining on LA!
