To apply, forward a resume and a response to the following prompt to Ricky Austin by April 15, 2012.
[Catholic education in the US] is an outstanding apostolate of hope, seeking to address the material, intellectual and spiritual needs of over three million children and students. It also provides a highly commendable opportunity for the entire Catholic community to contribute generously to the financial needs of our institutions. Their long-term sustainability must be assured. Indeed, everything possible must be done, in cooperation with the wider community, to ensure that they are accessible to people of all social and economic strata. No child should be denied his or her right to an education in faith, which in turn nurtures the soul of a nation. -Pope Benedict XVI
In 350 words or fewer, please respond to the Pope’s statement about Catholic schools in the United States in terms of the parental choice movement.
Why do you see becoming involved in this movement as an important way of responding to the Church’s call to ensure the future quality, sustainability, and accessibility of education that “nurtures the soul of a nation”?
Fifteen participants will be admitted. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
