In 2009, Notre Dame launched a campaign to double the percentage of Latino children enrolled in Catholic schools—from 3% to 6%, or 290,000 to 1 million children —in the next 10 years. The campaign began in response to a task force report that encouraged attention to closing the Latino achievement gap while also revitalizing American Catholic schools. Its strategy for achieving this goal relies on a combination of developing demand, building capacity, and transforming institutions to fill empty seats.
