Tabletop Moviemaking

Students and teachers alike live in a media saturated world, and there is an increasing urgency to equip them with the necessary skills to author original content across these new digital forms. As new technological devices and computers become cheaper and more powerful, teachers are in a critical position to help students use these new tools to author their own original content. Yet, traditional video making is a lengthy process that takes too much valuable time and energy from a teacher. Tabletop Moviemaking is a method that creates short animated movies using a production process where movies are produced in minutes instead of months. This simplified process is ideally suited for the classroom because it allows the teacher more time to focus on the writing process and cross curricular integration, while also placing students in the author’s chair for these new media platforms.
