Seeking Principal for St. Peter’s Interparish School (PreK-8) on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC

St. Peter’s Interparish School, a co-educational Roman Catholic elementary school on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, seeks a principal to start July 1, 2008. The school educates more than 220 students from PreK – 8th grade. Many are from one of four supporting Catholic parishes near the U.S. Capitol, while others hail from elsewhere in the city and surrounding suburbs. The school, founded 140 years ago, stresses academic excellence and its Catholic heritage.

The successful candidate will:

  • Build on the school’s history of academic excellence, with a focus on a college preparatory-oriented curriculum, especially mathematics and science in the upper grades
  • Ensure that education in the faith animates the curriculum at all levels
  • Lead the faculty in developing students’ core knowledge, reasoning powers, and strong self-discipline
  • Develop, plan, and manage the school’s financial resources
  • Maximize the resources of the community including our historically and culturally rich neighborhood
  • Communicate well with faculty, parents, and parish leaders

Candidates must be practicing Roman Catholics with a Master’s degree in educational administration or related field and at least five years of teaching experience, preferably three years or more in Catholic schools.
