De Marillac Academy - MS Teacher - San Francisco, CA

De Marillac Academy is a successful, dynamic 4th-8th grade school that provides tuition-free, private Catholic education to children from underserved families in San Francisco. The school, founded in 2001 and co-sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers and the Daughters of Charity, is part of the Nativity Miguel national network of schools that serves low-income populations. De Marillac seeks students who are considered “at-risk” because of social, academic, economic, and/or family circumstances. We serve a diverse student body of 100 students and support them in achieving their goals through high school and beyond.

De Marillac seeks a highly motivated, mission-centered, and energetic middle school teacher to join our team for the 2008-2009 academic year. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in our humanities curriculum such as language arts, social studies and religion, as well as art and music.

Desired Qualification
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Three or more years of experience teaching in a middle school
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • ESL experience
  • Three years of teaching experience
  • A strong commitment to the values and principles of Catholic education
  • Valid California credential or Masters or presently enrolled in aforementioned programs
  • Willingness to participate in Lasallian/Vincentian spiritual and professional development programs
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills

Teachers at De Marillac are hired to work on a 200-day contract each academic year. De Marillac is on an expanded annual calendar; teachers work from August 1 through mid-June of the following year. Salary is competitive based upon experience and qualifications. De Marillac provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and retirement.
