Staff Profiles

A common question that ACE teachers face upon graduation is, “What next?” Many graduates leave the ACE program with a desire to continue working in the classroom, and others pursue fields outside of education. The ACE Fellowship staff supports ACE graduates, and their friends and family, as they continue to serve Catholic schools in and outside of the classroom. Through regional grants, retreats and newsletter publications, the Fellowship keeps its graduates tapped into the mission of ACE and in support of Catholic education.

Tony DeSapio (ACE 6) is Director of the ACE Fellowship and takes a leadership role in overseeing its development. Tony served for two years in Memphis, TN teaching 3rd grade in the ACE program. In 2002 he joined the ACE staff to work with Educational Outreach. Tony founded the ACE Fellowship in 2004 after the ACE 10 year reunion, where a significant number of graduates showed interest in continuing the ACE mission beyond their two years in the program. As more and more ACE teachers graduate, the role of the Fellowship becomes ever more important. Because of this increasing demand to call ACE alumni into action, the Fellowship team has expanded.

Brian Green (ACE 6) is the Senior Associate Director of the Fellowship. Brian served for two years in Mobile, AL until his move to Santiago, Chile where he joined the first group of teachers in the Chile Fellowship to serve at St. George’s College. For the past four years, Brian has worked at the Center for Catholic Studies at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN. Throughout his time at St. Thomas, Brian has continued to be a supporter and recruiter of ACE and brings many innovative ideas to the Fellowship team.

Kathryn Steinlage (ACE 7) is Assistant Director of the ACE Fellowship. She joined ACE and served for three years in Mission, Texas at Our Lady of Sorrows School. Following her time in Texas, Kathy joined the third cohort of the Chile Fellowship and moved to Santiago for 19 months where she taught at St. George. Kathy works with several regions of ACE graduates and is also coordinator of the Chile Program.

Chris Broughton (ACE 11) also serves as Assistant Director of the ACE Fellowship. Chris served at Rosary School in Oklahoma City, not too far from his hometown of St. Louis. He taught middle school social studies, math, and Spanish in addition to coaching basketball and soccer. Currently, Chris splits his time working as supervisor for the ACE teachers in Los Angeles and as the contact for several regions of ACE graduates. He enjoys the opportunity to work with ACE graduates in invigorating this movement to serve Catholic education.
