A Letter from the Director
Dear Friends of Catholic Education:

The faculty, staff, and students of the program are happy for this opportunity to share the results of current research on Catholic schools conducted as the capstone experience of the Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program in the Alliance for Catholic Education.

The focus of the 2012 conference recognizes that Catholic school leaders are uniquely situated to engage in action research for positive change in their schools. The conference also reflects the belief that, through rigorous scientific inquiry, Catholic school leaders engage issues of justice through improved educational practices and structures. These Catholic school leaders are enacting innovative action research programs that incarnate the social teaching of the Church, evangelize the wider culture, and enliven Catholic education. Our need for missiondriven and data‐informed decision‐making remains strong; we are a better Church and educational community because of these projects.

A special word of thanks to our presenters, to Remick Leadership faculty members Drs. Anthony Holter and James Frabutt who directed these projects, and to Dr. Hunt for his keynote address. The conference itself was organized by Dr. Holter with the help of many staff, and Catholic education is now a little more enlightened because of their efforts. We also extend our gratitude to our close friend, partner, and generous benefactor, Mary Ann Remick. Notre Dame, ACE, and the Leadership Program have been blessed beyond measure by her friendship and her commitment to Catholic education.

Enjoy the conference, and in the spirit of action research, take an idea or two back home that will bless your practice, for our dream is to transform and perfect Catholic schools.

Sincerely yours in Notre Dame,

Rev. Ronald J. Nuzzi, Ph.D.
Senior Director
