Play Like a Champion Today™ Educational Series
The Play Like a Champion Today™ Educational Series is a child-centered approach to sports designed to help youth and high school sports programs reflect Gospel values and promote the moral and character development of young athletes. PLC offers numerous educational programs including the “Sports as Ministry Initiative” for Catholic youth sports programs, the “Parent Like a Champion Today™” program for parents whose children participate in the SAM initiative, a corresponding “Coaching for Character” program for public sports organizations, and the Play Like a Champion Today™ program for High Schools.
The Play Like A Champion Today™ approach has been crafted over a period of years by leaders in the fields of education, psychology, and coaching to elevate the culture of youth sports through child-centered educational practices. The Sports as Ministry youth program takes on a train-the-trainer approach to conducting workshops all across the country. Coaches, athletic directors, and administrators are trained at the annual PLC Leadership Conference in June to conduct workshops in their area or a PLC Master Trainer can travel to a particular region to train a trainer there.
