Forming Effective Catholic School Teachers
THE ALLIANCE FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION (ACE) SERVICE THROUGH TEACHING PROGRAM

Since 1994 Notre Dame has been addressing the urgent need for enthusiastic and effective Catholic school teachers through its Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE). The program, founded by Fr. Timothy Scully, CSC, and Fr. Sean McGraw, CSC, has proven the transformative potential of partnerships between Catholic higher education and diocesan elementary and secondary schools.
Annually, ACE places nearly 200 enthusiastic and faith-filled young men and women as full-time teachers in underserved Catholic schools throughout the country. ACE teachers live together in intentional faith communities of 4-7 teachers and return to Notre Dame for coursework in a Master’s degree in education during the summer months. Now welcoming its 15th class of teachers, ACE prepares more teachers for service in Catholic schools than any other program in the nation.
“…ACE teachers are answering God’s call to share their talents with those who need them.” - First Lady Laura Bush at Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Washington, D.C.
