Where We Serve: Denver

Denver

We live in Denver: four pro sports teams, less than an hour from the slopes, 300+ sunny days a year, and we are close to Boulder. January weather could be 60 degrees one day or snowing the next. We’re not too close to any other ACE communities, but in the words of John Staud, “So is Hawaii but who complains about paradise!”

How do you hope to grow in your faith through ACE?

I am hopeful that I will be able to grow in my faith during ACE by putting love into action in a very complete way. I believe that taking a holistic approach to teaching, seeking to educate and care for each student, both mind and soul, offers an opportunity to follow God’s call to love and serve others. This will be an opportunity to live out the faith I love more fully and concretely than I ever have before.

Why did you say 'yes' to serving with ACE?

My faith, education, and experiences have taught me that service is not a choice but a responsibility. Through ACE, I get to teach the subject I love to children who are at such a delicate but exciting age, be surrounded at work and at home by my faith, and receive amazing academic and pastoral support from an experienced team.

How do you hope to grow in your faith through ACE?

I believe living and working in the company of the ACE family is a great gift. Retreats, Masses, and community prayer all offer meaningful opportunities to grow in faith. My hope is that by keeping prayer at the heart of our teaching and community life, we will strengthen friendships among our ACE cohort and provide faithful examples for our students.

Why did you say 'yes' to serving with ACE?

What distinguishes ACE from other teaching programs is its emphasis on faith, service and community in addition to quality teaching.  Its invaluable opportunity for service and its foundation in faith made it very easy for me to say yes to ACE.  In addition to the tight-knit community that you are placed in at your site, ACE also has an incredible staff full of individuals who make themselves available at all times because they genuinely care and believe in ACE’s mission.  You never feel alone once you enter the ACE community.
