ACE Baton Rouge is a “go with the flow” community, though we certainly work hard as well. A quote by Jacob M. Braude comes to mind: “Always behave like a duck—keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath.”

Sitting on the banks of the Mississippi River and at the junction of Interstates 10 and 12, Baton Rouge is the capital city of Louisiana. The population of the city proper is about 227,000, a number that reflects a recent post-Katrina surge in population. It boasts both variety and quality in food and music, and generally contains an eclectic mix of the cultures and ways of life found throughout the State of Louisiana. In particular, the city has a passionate love affair with its food; in fact, local teachers have been known to explain, “Our state monuments are found on every plate.”
Perhaps the best part about living in Baton Rouge is the uniqueness of the local culture – from the food to Mardi Gras parades to crawfish boils to Cajun accents. The community is true to southern hospitality as we are graciously welcomed. We also like being close to a number of other ACE communities – Plaquemine, New Orleans, Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola, Montgomery and Birmingham are all a short drive away. On a quick drive outside the city, we end up in bayou country; the swamp tours are not to be missed! We love visiting the Big Easy and participating in all it has to offer in the French Quarter, for Mardi Gras and New Orleans Jazz Fest. Louisiana’s truly unique culture makes ACE Baton Rouge a special experience.
