We live in a cozy three-bedroom house complete with a kitchen, living room and two-car garage. We also have a back porch, home to our grill and garden.
Bellflower, CA is about a 20-30 minute drive (factoring in LA traffic) from the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Our house is less than a mile from the freeway that connects us to any other major LA highway which, in turn, can take you anywhere in the city in 20 minutes. We are close to a good number and a variety of restaurants and little stores. Our actual street is a mixture of styles and people, but I think that it is safe to say that we might be the only street in LA where you can sit outside and see the neighborhood police car drive by one minute and then see the neighbors from the barn a block over riding their horses in the middle of the street the next minute. LA is pretty self-explanatory; there is basically everything here. Mountains, beaches, clubs, theatres, you name it, it’s here.
The best thing about Los Angeles is the ability to do a variety of activities within a close range of our house. The freeway system is really key to getting anywhere around town using a relatively direct route. And the greatest thing is being so close to two other ACE houses. Los Angeles is the only city that has more than one ACE house and we get together all the time. It’s a great opportunity to share teaching stories and swap advice, but also to just relax with people that you don’t live with directly.
