We are the center of ACE Southeast; we are within 6-hours driving distance of nine other communities. Come visit!
Montgomery is home to the Alabama State Capitol, a large Air Force Base (from which MCPS draws many of its students), and the sixth largest Shakespeare Festival in the world. As their website will tell you, “ASF operates year-round, producing 14 world-class productions annually, including three works of William Shakespeare. The remainder are classics of the stage – works by playwrights such as Moliére, George Bernard Shaw, Anton Chekhov, Tennessee Williams, Thornton Wilder, and Eugene O’Neill – along with musicals and new works commissioned by the Festival.” The Shakespeare park is right across the street from Catholic High, which makes it very accessible to our community.
Montgomery is full of fascinating history, particularly Civil Rights history. Within a few blocks, one can visit the Alabama State Capital (where George Wallace famously said, “segregation today . . . segregation tomorrow . . . segregation forever”), the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church (whose famous pastor Martin Luther King, Jr. led the Montgomery Bus Boycott), and the Rosa Parks Museum. We also enjoy being so close to other ACEcommunities.
