Boyoung Kim, Cohort 24

Assistant Principal of Student Life & Culture, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy - La Cañada Flintridge, CA

Boyoung Kim

Hello! My name is Boyoung (Bo for short) Kim, and I am the Assistant Principal of Student Life and Culture at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. I am a proud Koreatown native of Los Angeles who graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in psychology and theology.

After my undergraduate studies, I lived in South Korea to teach English and immerse myself in my heritage for the first time. My experience in South Korea confirmed my love of education and ignited my passion for travel, wandering, and exploration. After two years in my Motherland, I returned to Los Angeles to pursue a graduate degree in education while teaching third grade in the Los Angeles Archdiocese.

My journey as a Catholic Educator began in a third-grade classroom in a parochial school in Los Angeles. As a high school Theology teacher, I spent the next six years teaching in various schools, including an all-girls independent Catholic high school in West Los Angeles, a Benedictine school in Portola Valley, and another all-girls school in Pasadena. While teaching at these unique schools, I have had the privilege of living out the different school missions and being formed by them.

I applied as Assistant Principal of Student Affairs at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy two years ago. Our school is an independent Dominican for all girls in beautiful La Canada, CA. At Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, we educate young women for a life of Faith, Integrity, and Truth. As the AP of Student Affairs, I am blessed to work with our students to empower leadership and facilitate a robust Student Life program outside the classroom. This new chapter in my journey contains many lessons, new challenges, and great excitement. I am so thrilled to join this cohort of the Remick Leadership Program, and I look forward to learning from and collaborating with other school leaders. I am grateful for this opportunity to grow as a leader and disciple of Christ.
