Elizabet Duarte is the administrative assistant for the ALMA Initiative within the Alliance for Catholic Education and the Institute for Educational Initiatives. She also supports the work of the Program for Inclusive Education, Office of Accreditation and Licensure, and Center for Literacy Education. In her role, she is responsible for event planning and hospitality, logistical support, creative marketing efforts, maintaining connections and relationships with school partners and dual language programs, and overseeing accounts receivable. She also translates content for research purposes and coordinates data collection for several of the units.

Duarte's previous experience in the government sector and the criminal justice system has been essential to her professional development and invaluable to her current role. Duarte is a first generation college graduate, earning her associate’s degree from the College of DuPage in 2015 and graduating magna cum laude with her bachelor’s degree from Aurora University in 2024. Duarte is also a member of Alpha Phi Sigma, honor society for criminal justice majors. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree from Nova Southeast University.

Her biggest motivation to continue her education has always been her parents and the challenges they faced immigrating to the United States from Zacatecas, Mexico. She is passionate about ALMA’s mission of embracing, educating, and empowering language learners in Catholic schools and has a personal connection to the mission as her own children attend a local Catholic school. In her free time, she enjoys quality time with her family and friends, attending concerts, and gardening.
