Valerie was born and raised in Magna, Utah and has put down roots with her family in Arizona after having lived or spent time in Indiana, Mexico, South America, Texas, and New York City. She has over 16 years of experience in the field of education, with 11 of those years in the classroom, two years as an instructional coach, and most recently as an administrator in a Catholic school. Valerie has experience working in three Catholic schools and a top-performing charter school in South Bronx. She loves learning, big ideas, and discussing ways to make education more equitable to achieve better outcomes for children. Valerie strives to be part of and contribute to environments where everyone gets what they need to thrive.

Valerie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Latin American Studies from the University of Notre Dame. She also earned a Master of Educator degree through Notre Dame's ACE program, and ESOL certification through the ENL program. Valerie enjoys music, dancing, languages, food & cooking, and spending time with her family. She and her husband are blessed with two beautiful and amazing children.
