Where We Serve: Memphis
Memphis, known as the capital of the Mid-South, has been home to an ACE community since 1999. Memphis is known for wonderful music and is home to the King (Elvis Presley's) estate, Graceland. Live rock and roll along with soul music can be heard in many bars and restaurants. If barbecue is what you're looking for, Memphis has many tasty options.
"Memphis is about six hours from about a dozen other communities. This makes us a destination, but also allows us to travel to a lot of other great places. If you really want to get to know somebody well, try going on a road trip with them. "

"My faith allows me to stay grounded and to remember what truly matters when I am overwhelmed with everything I have to do. It also gives me the confidence to keep going even when I feel that I will be unable to surmount the obstacles in my way. Finally, my faith unites me to the greater Catholic and Christian community and helps me to share in the love of Christ with others."

"My best lesson of the year was on interest rates. In my Honors Algebra II class, we studied how interest rates follow exponential functions, and then applied our knowledge to study payday loans and the social justice issues associated. My kids got really into it and used the math to inform their knowledge of the social issue! "

"My favorite moment was witnessing the pure JOY on my students faces as they watched their science experiments bubble and burst before their eyes. I had 12 different science fair projects going on at the same time, which could have resulted in complete chaos, but I took a risk and saw the ownership and growth of each of my students as they rose to the challenge."

"I believe that my community was ordained by God. The beautiful souls that I am blessed to have in my life for the next year or two are already helpful in so many ways. Therefore, I am sure that having them during my first year will benefit me as well. They will help to keep me mentally and spiritually stout which I will need. "
