How can teachers leverage GenAI and EdTech to help them make timely instructional decisions that better respond to student needs?
This session examines how technology can support educators with formative assessment. Formative assessment is powerful. It gives teachers the insight into students levels of mastery to help them plan more responsive, differentiated instruction.
This session will demonstrate how generative AI can be used to draft high-quality formative assessment questions through purposeful prompting. Participants will see how thoughtful prompt design can help teachers generate questions that are aligned to learning goals and useful for identifying what students are ready to do next.
The session will then turn to practical strategies for collecting formative assessment data in the classroom. Some technology tools make it easier for teachers to gather feedback. Some strategies require that students use technology themselves; while others do not. This session will show how teachers can reap the benefits of technology without any of the potential for distracting students.
Using formative data to inform instruction does not need to feel like a heavy lift. With the right strategies and tools, teachers can build manageable routines that strengthen instruction and better meet student needs.
