The CAST Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework is grounded in learning science research and offers a practical path toward inclusive instructional planning. Rather than reacting to learner needs after the fact, UDL encourages educators to design lessons that anticipate variability and remove barriers from the start. In this session, we’ll explore the core principles of UDL—multiple means of engagement, representation, and action/expression—and how they align with the “why,” “what,” and “how” of learning. Educators will leave with a clearer understanding of how UDL supports equitable access, meaningful participation, and success for all students.
