Position Overview
The 4th Grade Teacher creates a structured, engaging, and academically rigorous classroom environment where students develop critical thinking skills, independence, and a strong academic foundation. The teacher models Catholic values, builds meaningful relationships with students and families, and delivers high-quality instruction aligned to student needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Faith Formation & School Mission
Support and actively model the mission and values of Saint Joseph Catholic School.
Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and faith-based experiences into daily instruction and classroom life.
Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith formation activities.
Foster students’ spiritual growth and understanding of Catholic values.
Promote the virtues of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Kindness.
Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in ELA, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Religion.
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including higher-level questioning and inquiry-based learning.
Differentiate instruction through flexible grouping, scaffolding, enrichment, and targeted intervention.
Implement accommodations and modifications outlined in student service plans, including ELL and Special Education supports.
Integrate educational technology effectively to enhance learning experiences.
Maintain organized lesson plans aligned with diocesan curriculum and Indiana Academic Standards.
Student Learning & Assessment
Monitor student progress through formal and informal assessments.
Use data to guide instruction and provide targeted support and enrichment.
Maintain accurate records of academic progress and student growth.
Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and behavioral development.
Classroom Environment & Management
Establish a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment.
Reinforce school-wide expectations and support student responsibility and independence.
Teach and model conflict resolution, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
Promote a growth mindset and student ownership of learning.
Build strong relationships rooted in respect, consistency, and care.
Communication & Collaboration
Maintain consistent, professional communication with parents and guardians.
Collaborate with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
Work closely with support staff, including interventionists, ELL staff, and resource personnel.
Participate in student support meetings, conferences, faculty meetings, and school events.
Partner with families to support student success academically and spiritually.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field.
Valid Indiana teaching license (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the faith mission of the school.
Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching upper elementary grades (3–5 preferred).
Experience working with English Language Learners and diverse student populations.
Strong background in literacy and math instruction.
Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
Positive, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset.
