Communion of Saints School, a Catholic school committed to academic excellence and the spiritual development of each student, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior High History Teacher for grades 6 through 8. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in history and a commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment rooted in Catholic values. This position requires a teacher who can inspire students to understand historical events, think critically about the past, and make connections to contemporary issues.
Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive history curriculum for grades 6–8, aligned with state and Diocesan standards. Design and deliver engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, historical analysis, and a deep understanding of world and U.S. history. Integrate Catholic teachings and values into the classroom environment and curriculum where appropriate. Create a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages respect, participation, and intellectual curiosity. Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, presentations, and class discussions. Provide timely feedback and communicate student progress with parents and school administration. Support the school's mission and values by participating in faith-based activities, school events, and professional development opportunities. Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to create an integrated and cohesive educational experience for students. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field. Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level. Practicing Catholic preferred, with a commitment to upholding the values and mission of Catholic education. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage middle school students effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with educational technology and ability to integrate it into the curriculum.
