Job Summary

The Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction (APCI) provides visionary leadership in academic program design and implementation, ensuring that curriculum, instruction, and professional development meet Don Bosco Cristo Rey’s standards of excellence. By fostering a data-driven culture and promoting instructional best practices, the APCI helps prepare students for college and career success while supporting the professional growth of faculty.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Oversee the implementation of curriculum, ensuring alignment with state standards, AP program requirements, and DBCR’s mission.
Lead regular curriculum review cycles to maintain rigorous and relevant instructional materials.

Guide department chairs and instructional coaches to improve teacher effectiveness and student outcomes.

Plan and execute professional development initiatives, aligning opportunities with identified areas of need and instructional goals.

Collaborate with the academic counselor and testing lead to ensure accurate administration and use of MAP, PSAT, SAT, and other assessments.

Develop and maintain academic dashboards to analyze and report on student performance data.

Oversee Summer School programs and collaborate on the Summer Bridge program to prepare incoming and current students for academic success.

Support the Corporate Work Study Curriculum by integrating career preparation into academic planning.

Monitor instructional trends and implement strategies that drive student achievement.

Serve as a member of the leadership team, contributing to the school’s overall strategic vision.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises department chairs and leads observation of teachers.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field required; advanced certifications preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with 3 years in a leadership role.
Experience with data-driven instruction and teacher coaching.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment strategies, and instructional coaching.

Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proven commitment to advancing equity and excellence in education.

Work Environment:

Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events.

Work hours generally follow the school calendar, with a typical workday beginning at 7:30 AM.
