Job Summary
The assistant principal plays a crucial role in supporting the principal in the effective management and leadership of the school. Ensuring a safe, faith based, and supportive learning environment, conducive to student success. Administrative Support
• Assist the principal in managing the overall operations of the school
• Assist the principal in managing the overall operations of the school
• Help develop and implement school policies, procedures, and programs
• Oversee the daily operations of the school

Student Discipline and Behavior Management:
• Work with teachers, staff, and students to maintain a positive and respectful school environment
• Address student behavior issues and implement disciplinary actions when necessary
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents to support students' academic and social-emotional needs

Curriculum Development and Instructional Leadership
• Support the implementation of curriculum standards and instructional initiatives
• Provide guidance and support to teachers in developing effective instructional strategies
• Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff members

Student Support and Guidance
• Assist in the development and implementation of student support programs, including special education services, counseling, and academic interventions
• Collaborate with counselors and support staff to address the individual needs of students
• Help coordinate student activities, events, and programs to promote student engagement and achievement

School Safety and Emergency Preparedness
• Ensure that safety protocols and procedures are in place and effectively communicated to students and staff
• Collaborate with school security personnel, local law enforcement, and other stakeholders to maintain a safe and secure school environment
Parent and Community Engagement
• Foster positive relationships with parents, guardians, and community members
• Communicate regularly with parents about school policies, programs, and student progress

Administrative Tasks
• Assist with budgeting and financial management
• Participate in meetings with school leadership, faculty, and staff
• Complete required paperwork, reports, and documentation as needed

Environmental and Physical Demands
The assistant principal will be managing the overall operations of the school, and will oversee the daily operations of the school, which include but are not limited to evaluate staff, student progress, and school safety through regular visits to classrooms and all other areas of the school plant which requires mobility throughout the school. This position also requires extended periods of sitting, working at a computer, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Requirements and Preferences
• Practicing Catholic
• Master’s degree in Administration or Equivalent
• State certification/license in administration
• Compliant with Safe Environment Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a Catholic school

Teacher Requirements
All teachers in the schools of the Diocese of Albany must have at least a bachelor's degree to qualify for full or part-time classroom responsibility for grades K-12. All teachers should have New York State Certification or be in the process of obtaining certification.
