Job Title: Teacher

Job Type: Part time

Evaluation: Teacher performance will be evaluated on a yearly basis by the administration according to the expectations listed herein, and further according to the development as provided through continuous teacher training.

Goal: Following in the classical method of education, within the tradition of the Catholic church, to develop the minds, characters, and souls of the students in their pursuit of the Truth, desire of the Good, and love of the Beautiful.

Summary of Expectations:
-To prepare and instruct in the applicable course material
-To adopt the classical approach to education and implement the socratic method as possible
-To encourage an atmosphere of mutual respect amongst students and staff
-To facilitate an atmosphere of a love of learning
-To create and update yearly curriculum guides for the course
-To create weekly lesson plans and upload at the start of the week
-To track student progress and be able to provide feedback as needed
-To assess student progress by exams, oral or written, at midterm and the end of the year
-To assign grades/evaluations to the students at midterm and end of year, according to a grading system approved by the administration
-To communicate frequently, promptly, and effectively with parents
-To comply with any policies and guidelines as stated in the teacher handbook
-To attend teacher development days before school and throughout the year

Teacher requirements:
-Must be a committed and practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church
-Must take an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium and to the school’s statement of faith
-Must have a college degree or other proof of expertise the applicable course material
-Should have experience teaching in a classroom setting or managing groups of youth
-Should have experience with the classical method of education
-Must be able to communicate clearly and conduct oneself professionally
-Strong verbal and written communication skills preferred
-Must be committed to continued professional development as provided by the administration, including doing the required reading and coursework and attending any meetings, seminars, and workshops.

Education and related work experience:
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university unless otherwise stipulated
Preferred degree in the applicable course material or otherwise experience teaching in said material
Preferred experience working for other schools or hybrid programs

Pedagogical Training:
Campion Hall will provide its teachers with continuous training for all employees in the classical method of education, as well as the socratic method. This training will consist in formation meetings, reading and discussion, online classes, and workshops. The Program Director is available for support throughout the year.
