DIRECTOR OF MISSION AND CULTURE JOB DESCRIPTION

Notre Dame College Prep, a Catholic, all-boys high school located in Niles, Illinois, under the sponsorship of the Brothers of Holy Cross, is seeking a well-qualified Director of Mission and Culture. The Director of Mission and Culture is appointed by the President and serves under the direct supervision of the Principal and President. Using the lens of the charism of Holy Cross, this role is dedicated to fostering the faith formation of students, faculty, families, and staff by providing opportunities for spiritual growth, community service, and liturgical celebrations. The Director of Mission and Culture plays a key role in integrating Gospel values into the life of the school community.

EXPECTATIONS:
Facilitate and coordinate the articulation of a shared strategic vision and focus among the many mission-related activities across the institution, including the Office of Campus Ministry, Christian Service Program, and retreat programs. Ensure all of these are aligned with the school’s overall strategic vision
Serve as the school’s chief mission officer, reporting directly to the President, and serve on the Leadership Team
Ensure the school’s Holy Cross and Catholic identity and mission are well-integrated across the institution by fostering deeper engagement and ongoing formation for faculty, staff, students, parents, and all of the school’s stakeholders
Assist in planning and leading student and staff retreats, service projects, and liturgical events and promote faith-based initiatives
Supervise and mentor students in leadership roles within Campus Ministry
Attend occasional student, parent, and other events throughout the year
Teach up to two classes per class period rotation

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Specific accountabilities shall include, but not be limited to:
Administrative Leadership
Demonstrate knowledge of the mission and philosophy of Notre Dame College Prep and support in incorporating and communicating its vision.
Provide leadership and coordination in planning and executing school liturgies, retreats, and prayer services.
Lead student life and culture initiatives
Develop and steward opportunities for adult spirituality and adult life to various stakeholder groups
Serve as mission-focused liaison to the Board of Directors.
In collaboration with the school’s leadership team, develop and communicate a coherent, clear and shared understanding of the school’s Holy Cross Catholic mission that reflects the particular context of the culture and location of Notre Dame College Prep.
Provide support to the President and the Office of Advancement in the area of mission-related fundraising.
Foster relationships between departments and offices that create opportunities for collaboration across the campus in the area of mission.
Cultivate links with the school’s various areas, such as: Athletics, Activities, Advancement, and Enrollment.
Mission and Ministry
Working closely with the Holy Cross Institute, collaborate on mission-related initiatives with other Holy Cross institutions.
Assist in developing and implementing service programs that reflect Catholic social teaching.
Collaborate with the Religious Studies department to enhance the spiritual formation of students.
Take an active role in supporting the Christian Service Program.
Serve as a mentor and faith guide for students, offering pastoral support and encouragement.
Organize and facilitate retreats for students, faculty, and staff, including overnight experiences.
Foster an inclusive and welcoming faith environment for students of diverse backgrounds.
Work closely with the Director of Campus Ministry to coordinate sacramental preparation and faith-based programming.
Encourage student participation in liturgical ministries, such as altar serving, lectoring, and music ministry.
Support and participate in the broader Catholic identity initiatives of the school.
Maintain open communication with administration regarding specific issues involving students, parents, staff, and the community.
Continue professional self-development in ministry, theology, and pastoral care.
Other duties as assigned.
Teaching
Ordinarily the Director of Mission and Culture will teach up to two classes.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in theology, pastoral ministry, religious studies, or a related field
Strong knowledge of Catholic faith, teachings, traditions, and liturgical practices
Passion for working with high school students and fostering their faith development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal
Understanding of or willingness to be immersed in the charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Familiarity with retreat planning, service learning, and student leadership development
Proficiency with technology, including Google for Education tools and social media platforms
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Master’s degree in theology, pastoral ministry, education, or a related field
Previous experience in campus ministry, youth ministry, mission advancement, and/or Catholic education
Experience in a Catholic school setting
Training in retreat leadership, spiritual direction, or liturgical planning
Physical Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (10 to 20 pounds). Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to participate in outdoor service projects and retreat activities.
