Position Summary: Mother McAuley is seeking an experienced teacher and leader to serve as the Division Lead of English. This is a ten-month, full-time, salaried, exempt administrative position for the 2024-2025 school year. We are seeking an experienced teacher and leader for this position and the major responsibilities are tied to the affairs of the department, developing programs and curricula, directing and evaluating teaching personnel and upholding the mission and philosophy of the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Serves as a member of the School Leadership Council making recommendations for the department as well as for a school-wide curriculum.
Supports and actively implements administrative policies and directives.
Collaborates with faculty members, members of the School Leadership Council and the Administration to plan and develop a curriculum designed to meet the needs of the students.
Brings all new course proposals to the School Leadership Council for review and recommendation to the Curriculum Committee and to the Administration.
Assures departmental progress toward advancing the goals of the Strategic Plan and the objectives of the School Improvement Plan by an analysis of student achievement data as evidenced in classroom performance and national standardized test scores.
Assess academic progress of students relative to national/standardized testing results and implements curricular changes as a result of this data analysis.
Plans and implements departmental meetings to conduct business, communicate, discuss, plan as well as provide in-service exchange of ideas, and instructional and assessment materials; and discusses these with the Assistant Principal of Academics.
Develops the department master schedule and assigns departmental personnel to teach courses.
Implements the teacher supervision program for each member of the department to observe effectiveness of instructional methods, materials, equipment and personnel as a means of fostering collaboration in curriculum development.
Supervises personnel and instruction utilizing formative and summative measures.
Supervises department personnel in the performance of their classroom and department duties and general duties as appropriate.
Conducts annual Employee Performance Reviews and oversees the supervision program in collaboration with department members and the Assistant Principal of Academics by means of classroom drop-ins and observations.
Seeks needed new departmental personnel, interviews applicants for teaching positions and makes recommendations to the Principal in collaboration with the Assistant Principal of Academics.
Oversees the substitution plan for department members whose absences are extended.
Maintains a positive departmental climate by communicating effectively, resolving conflicts and modeling the value of teamwork.
Provides information to department members regarding professional development opportunities as well as enrichment activities for student enrichment.
Prepares a list of financial, equipment, repair and other needs for the development of the department budget. Manages the departmental budget and approves all department expenses.
Performs departmental administrative and communication responsibilities in addition to fulfilling teaching assignments.
Utilizes lead release time in the nine period schedule to perform departmental duties.
Sits on the admissions committee to review incoming freshman placement.
Participates in after school activities when necessary (e.g., Open House, incoming freshman registration).
Models professional dress, decorum and language.

Education/Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Master’s Degree and/or equivalent preferred
Professional Educator License with English endorsements
Administrative Certificate preferred and/or equivalent experience
Five years of experience in a secondary school preferred
