,
Other Education and Non-Profit Positions

The Pulte Institute for Global Development, part of the University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs, is seeking two undergraduate students to fill the role of Entrepreneurship and Education Student Interns for summer 2025. These student interns will support the Pulte Institute Entrepreneurship and Education Division’s collaboration with St. Bonaventure Secondary School in western Tanzania with dual objectives of researching and implementing an after-school entrepreneurship curriculum and assisting with the English language learning efforts among the students. The student interns will leave this experience with higher cross-cultural competencies, leadership skills, program management, and project design/implementation experience, and a greater understanding of the educational process in eastern Africa.

St. Bonaventure Girls’ Secondary School is a project initiated by Sr. Dativa Mukebita and the Franciscan Sisters of St. Bernadette (FSSB) as a continuation of St. Bonaventure Pre and Primary Schools in Benaco, Tanzania. The school was under construction from the ground up throughout most of 2024 and is currently accepting and welcoming its first cohort of male and female students (equivalent to a high school level in the U.S.) in early 2025. Sr. Dativa is passionate about serving others and believes that education can be a powerful tool in transforming the local community and giving young adults the skills needed to take ownership of their lives.

Sr. Dativa is connected to a Notre Dame family who has asked the Pulte Institute to provide project support to the secondary school. The Pulte Institute’s E&E Division has provided project support and facilitated student involvement since spring 2024. The two interns in summer 2025 will complete an on-site internship in Tanzania at St. Bonaventure Secondary School to continue the work of previous student teams. The student interns will live in guest housing in a nearby town and commute to the school daily, first to understand the local context and objectives of St. Bonaventure Secondary School and then to begin implementing the curriculum and working with the teachers in the English classes.

This role requires a highly detail-oriented individual who can operate within a quick-paced environment. It will be vital for the intern to have strong organizational skills and the ability to stay flexible and respond to in-the-moment needs as they arise throughout the program. The ideal candidate will strongly desire cross-cultural engagement and will be passionate about collaborating with and learning from individuals with different backgrounds and perspectives.

Housing, meals, and all travel costs associated with getting to/from Tanzania will be covered. The interns will also receive a stipend of $2000/each OR course credit as compensation for their efforts on the project. The internship dates are from 6/23/25 through 8/15/25
