JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Exceptional Student Educator (ESE) Interventionist
Position: Part-time
Location: Donahue Academy, Ave Maria FL
Reports to: Dean and Assistant Principal of Faculty

OVERVIEW
Donahue Academy is the parochial elementary, middle, and high school of Ave Maria Catholic Church, which serves more than 1,400 households through liturgy, evangelization, formation, education, and ministry activities. Donahue Academy provides a faithful Catholic, classical education, including a robust athletics program, to children from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 in a tight-knit community environment. The ESE Interventionist supports the school’s mission by providing, under the direction of the ESE Coordinator, specially designed instruction to students with support plans and students receiving tiered interventions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide one-on-one or small group reading, math, writing, or specially designed instruction for students with support plans as well as students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 Interventions.
• Support ESE Coordinator plan lessons and activities that align with support plans and tiered interventions.
• Monitor and track students’ progress toward support plan and intervention plan goals.
• Provide progress-monitoring data/reports to ESE Coordinator.
• Collaborate with teachers in the implementation of accommodations/modifications in the classroom.
• Communicate regularly with the ESE Coordinator, Counselor, and Faculty as well as the Assistant Principal and Principal, as needed, about learning outcomes of students receiving support and students receiving interventions.

CREDENTIALS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of Bachelor's degree, from an accredited college or university, in the subject areas of math, reading, writing, and ELA required.
• Current 5-year renewable Professional Florida Educator Certificate, or a 3 or 4-year non-renewable Temporary Florida Educator Certificate, or eligibility for certification required.
• Knowledge of research-based math and literacy instructional and intervention strategies and experience with guided reading, benchmark assessments, progress monitoring and small-group, adult-led instruction required.
• Experience working with students with learning disabilities strongly preferred.
• Experience with Reading Mastery and Singapore Math preferred.
• Understanding and knowledge of Catholic pedagogy (i.e., Gravissimum Educationis) preferred.
• Ability to manage a flexible schedule and work with students across grade levels in reading, writing, math, and sometimes social skill development, as needed, preferred.
• Openness to being formed in school curriculum and concepts desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be a practicing Catholic.
• Must be familiar with the classical model of education.
• Must abide by policies and procedures as set forth in the Diocese and Donahue Academy Employee and Family handbooks.
• Willingness to undergo FDLE Level 2 background check.
• Must have a caring and patient disposition.
• Must have strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
