Washington Jesuit Academy (WJA) is a unique, tuition-free, Catholic, all boys middle school offering high quality education to underserved young men in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. We educate talented students from low-income families, regardless of religious denomination, providing them with a disciplined, rigorous learning environment. The mission of WJA is to prepare these young men to become "men for others" who, having gained confidence intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and physically will be able to succeed in a college preparatory high school on their way to becoming leaders in their communities.
WJA is seeking a full-time faculty member for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. WJA faculty members are expected to:
•Teach four sections per day, 50 minutes each
•Work two afternoon duties per week (clubs, coaching, service, etc.)
•Communicate regularly with parents about student performance and classroom expectations
•Demonstrate a profound commitment to excellence in teaching through professional development
•Be a highly effective classroom manager
Strong candidates for teaching positions are disciplined workers, compassionate listeners, tireless advocates for their students, and dedicated to being a part of a positive school culture. They are problem solvers, not problem identifiers. Most importantly, they approach their work as a vocation. There is no greater relationship at WJA than the relationship between teacher and student.
WJA offers:
•Small class sizes (no more than 18 students per class)
•Two uninterrupted planning periods per day
•A supportive community of dedicated educators
•A culture of creativity where teachers are given the autonomy to take risks and grow
•A salary competitive with local public schools and generous benefits
•Paid professional development including the opportunity to earn advanced degrees
If you are interested in applying for this position, please send a cover letter and resume to Mr. Brian Farmer, bfarmer@wjacademy.org.
