In response to growing enrollment, St. Joseph’s Catholic School in West St. Paul is currently seeking an outstanding 5th grade teacher to join our school community for the 2024-25 school year. The ideal candidate will possess a deep commitment to the Church and Catholic education, while demonstrating the skills necessary to instruct and form fifth grade students.
Saint Joseph Church Catholic Church and School is a vibrant community that boasts a rich Catholic culture, attracts significant daily sacramental participation, promotes life (and is full of life), hosts perpetual Eucharistic Adoration (and has for more than 30 years), and cultivates fruitful vocations to the diaconate, priesthood, consecrated life, and marriage. We foster the communal life with opportunities for all ages, including social events; book studies; retreats for men, women, and youth; adult formation; works of mercy; senior gatherings; and more. We are fortunate to have one of the largest and most established Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) programs in the Archdiocese, fully-integrated within our school’s PreK-to-5th-Grade program.
Our school, a primary means of evangelization and education, has been serving young people for more than 75 years. Saint Joseph Catholic School forms joyful disciples of Jesus Christ who pursue academic excellence and cultivate a life of virtue. At the core of our school’s mission is evangelization: helping our young people to be good, faithful, and productive citizens – and even more importantly, to know and love Jesus Christ and be virtuous and active members of his Church. Our full commitment to academic excellence is not merely compatible with our school’s Catholic identity and mission, it is demanded by that very mission. We currently serve over 400 K-8 students and 66 preschoolers.
We value and invest in our teachers. Every full-time teacher at Saint Joseph’s School receives the following benefits:
- An opportunity to earn a free Master’s degree of your choice, tuition free, through the University of Saint Thomas or the Saint Paul Seminary.
- A tuition discount of 75% for all children enrolled in the school, which becomes 100% for the fifth child enrolled.
- The opportunity to earn free college tuition for qualified dependents through Saint Mary’s University.
- Medical and dental coverage provided through Blue Cross and Blue Shield (generous splits-mention)
- A mentorship program for new teachers, partnering with veteran teachers to make sure their first year is a success.
The ideal applicant will have the following qualifications:
- An understanding of, commitment to, and passion for the mission of Catholic education as defined by the Church and demonstrated integrity as a credible witness of the Catholic faith and a commitment to academic excellence as an essential component of authentic and integral Catholic education.
- Ability to contribute to a culture of: (1) faith in Christ and His Church that is mature, informed, accountable, and dynamically missionary; (2) respect for the dignity, freedom, responsibility, and social vocation of the human person made in God’s image; and (3) human excellence reinforced through high, yet reasonable expectations for learning and for virtuous interactions among all members of the school community.
- Strong classroom management skills, balancing classroom structure with rapport in working with kids.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in elementary education or related field
