Summary:
Within the context of the tradition and charism of the Sisters of Mercy, supportive of the Mission and Values of Mercy High School and Catholic Church teachings and doctrine, the Graphic and Content Designer reports to the Advancement, Marketing, and Admissions Operations Manager and is responsible for the overall branding and content coming out of Mercy High School. The Graphic and Content Designer supports various departments and faculty and staff members so they can be positioned to be successful in their work. Significant work is prioritized to support the Admissions, Advancement, and Academic Departments.

The Graphic and Content Designer must possess the ability to perform as an individual and part of a team and have excellent interpersonal skills; have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of audiences; needs strong organizational and project management skills and to be self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines within tight deadlines; meet challenges with a sense of humor and a “can do it” attitude.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In addition, the person should have the following experience and/or education to perform the job successfully.
Education and/or Experience:
● Minimum of three years of graphic and content design experience ● Comfort and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design software. ● Strong understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and design principles.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: ● Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design or other related field; or equivalent work experience ● Experience with animation and video creation preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: ● Support Mercy High School’s daily, seasonal, quarterly, and annual marketing needs of the school ● Support Advancement marketing needs including annual events such as Giving Day, Making a Difference fundraiser, Circle of Mercy donor reception. Etc. ● Using modern graphic design expertise to conceptualize, design, and produce high quality, engaging, aesthetically pleasing, and professional print and digital-ready resource material including, but not limited to, forms, brochures, flyers, wraps, banners, posters, infographics, social media-oriented graphics, signage, promotional items, internal graphics, graphics for digital distribution, web banners, charts, graphs, other visual concepts, layouts, images, and content. ● Use graphic design expertise to draft and/or design marketing items, announcements, digital advertisements, and other communications ● Respond to general design inquiries such as logo requests, vectorizing files, identify fonts, match colors, re-sizing needs, and general formatting ● Collaborate with staff to edit existing and/or create new layouts and graphics; set up and adjust artwork for print jobs and prepare jobs for printing ● Use visual communication to increase the school's engagement with faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and the public ● Oversee the school’s master in-house printer ● Oversee design of bi-annual magazine publication ● Maintain brand guidelines, digital assets, templates, and graphic archives ● Operate a computer and assigned software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher, Google Suite, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro, and other software and tools used in the graphics design industry; utilize software for mail merging certificates, tickets, letters, and other content ● Create preliminary proofs with the use of a high-speed printer and/or other digital printing equipment in the reproduction of high-quality printed material; operate a variety of assigned equipment including a paper cutter and lamination machine ● Possess ability to pay attention to detail to verify that proofs match the digital files. ● Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to exchange information, resolve issues or concerns, and complete projects; answer phone calls and respond to inquiries. ● Measure, oversee, and verify the installation of wraps and signage around the school’s campus ● Support upkeep of school website and social media video and content creation ● Proofreads and fact-checks content before printing and/or publication ● Supports additional duties that arise
Additional Responsibilities: ● May be called upon to support guest lecture and project opportunities in relevant student courses ● Willingness and availability to undertake co-curricular responsibilities, including supervision of extracurricular activities after working hours
Salary and benefits Full-time, year-round benefited position. Position includes school holidays. Hiring Range $62,838.22 - $80,399.60 per year that commensurates with experience and education of the applicant. Applications received after this date will be reviewed if the position is still open.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions while walking between the high school’s three main buildings (Russell Hall, the Kohl Mansion, and the Wing, plus occasionally Mercy Center). Employee spends a significant portion of the day sitting in front of a computer screen and using a computer mouse and keyboard with occasional standing, reaching, bending and walking.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
