JOB SUMMARY

As a joint member of the library and instructional teams, the Instructional Librarian is a future-facing educator and media and AI literacy specialist who blends emerging technologies, instruction, outreach, and relationship building in support of student-centered growth. The Instructional Librarian plays a key role in the design and implementation of our education‑facing AI strategy, delivers critical information literacy instruction, and supports day-to-day library operations.

This is a ten-month work calendar position (August - May).

RESPONSIBILITIES 

- Foster a vibrant, inclusive, and academically enriching environment that supports the library as a safe place for self-directed learning & exploration. 
- Partner with instructional team, department chairs, SEL Thrive advisor leads, classroom educators, and students to build a shared understanding of AI literacy goals in order to:
- Develop and document a clear framework for AI use with students across grades 9-12, including: integrated AI in coursework, foundations of digital literacy, and ethical usage and creation.
- Create guidance documents, exemplars, decision‑making tools and professional development opportunities for teachers and academic leaders navigating AI use in their courses.
- Evaluate AI tech tools to meet school quality standards and reflect our mission.
-Pro-actively seek collaboration opportunities to integrate media literacy, AI literacy and digital citizenship across disciplines and grade levels into the curriculum. 
- Collaborate with classroom educators to design and teach research skills and critical information literacy lessons to support specific course assignments.
-Create and maintain accessible, student-centered research guides, tutorials, and digital resources using effective educational technologies.
- Actively build a culture of reading for enjoyment.
- Play an integral role in day-to-day operations of the library, including general student supervision, collection development, cataloging, circulation services, and managing the physical space.
