Jr. High Science Teacher
6th Grade Homeroom
Holy Family School in South Bend is in search of a qualified Jr. High Science teacher with a focus on project based instruction. The ideal candidate will be faith-filled and dedicated to providing quality instruction for students of all abilities, integrating the mission of Holy Family School and the Diocese of Fort Wayne / South Bend in all planning, teaching, and classroom activities to benefit students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Homeroom teacher for a 6th grade class.
Demonstrating effective classroom management with regards to student organization, behavior, and transitions throughout the day.
Maintaining school records as required by the diocese and state.
Communicating regularly and effectively with parents regarding all aspects of school life for this group of students.
Working cooperatively with administrators, Jr. High teaching team, other staff, and parents on various school-wide initiatives, projects, and field trips.
Preparing lesson plans and teaching in assigned subject area and grade levels in accordance with state and diocesan guidelines.
Holy Family uses a combination of FOSS and PLTW Gateway Curriculum Kits.
Using relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
Recognizing differing student learning styles and facilitating learning by adapting instructional methods and teaching materials to student needs.
Using various assessments to measure student growth.
Entering grades and monitoring student academic progress via PowerSchool.
Commited to ongoing faith formation and professional growth.
Fosters the spiritual development of students by modeling Catholic doctrine, values, and morals.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
Indiana teaching license in appropriate grade level/teaching area; or demonstrated eligibility to receive license.
High level thinking and problem solving skills.
Ability to speak and write fluently and grammatically correct English.
Strong written, verbal presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs,
Stand for 30 minutes at a time,
Operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment.
Must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.
