Marymount School seeks a learning specialist for a family leave coverage from December 12, 2024 - April 14, 2025. Our learning specialist works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, support personnel, and families to provide strategic learning support to students in our Lower Middle School (Grades 3-5). Using recommendations from neuropsychological evaluations, the learning specialist provides individualized support to students, recommends interventions to classroom teachers, and coordinates with outside support services. Other responsibilities include attendance at faculty meetings, student supervision and program support (club moderator, lunch duty, email correspondence, etc.).
Responsibilities include:
Work with students in large and small groups to support their skills in:
reading, including decoding, fluency, and comprehension
writing, including paragraph structure, grammar, and mechanics
subject-specific (science, math, etc.) support as needed
executive functioning, including organizational and study strategies
Interpret and implement recommendations from neuropsychological evaluations
Attend faculty and student support meetings as necessary
Collaborate, communicate, and plan with teachers, families, and outside supports (such as tutors) in order to support student needs
Supervisory duties and responsibilities as requested by divisional head
