Major Gifts and Events Officer, St. Monica Catholic School (Immediate Hire)

School Profile

St. Monica Catholic School is a PreK-12 Catholic classical school located on Mercer Island, just east of Seattle, Washington. Our curriculum model, based on the Educational Plan of St. Jerome, immerses students in the beauty of Western civilization and the Catholic intellectual tradition. We are a parish school and bring students into the sacramental and liturgical life of St. Monica Catholic Church. Our high school program was founded as a pilot in 2020 and received archdiocesan approval and accreditation through the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) in 2023.

Ideal Candidate

St. Monica Catholic School is seeking a Major Events and Gifts Officer. This role will own both the coordination of major fundraising events (auction, annual fund, etc.) and cultivation of major gifts and a committed donor base. The ideal candidate will possess experience in nonprofit fundraising, a passion for Catholic and classical education, and a drive to make a significant impact in a growing institution.

Responsibilities
• Manage the identification, outreach, and stewardship of a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors
• Create and maintain an ongoing donor prospect research process
• Acknowledge gifts and manage donor follow-up workflow
• Establish and coordinate quarterly alumni newsletter as an avenue for alumni giving
• Direct communication and outreach regarding annual fund
• Manage fundraising database
• Direct planning, coordination, and communication for annual fundraising and community events (Spring Auction, 8th Grade and High School Graduation, “Grand’s Day”)
• Serve as school parent club liaison, owning communication and school facilities coordination for parent club events
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in event coordination and nonprofit fundraising. Special consideration given to candidates with experience with major gift campaigns.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form relationships with potential donors, parents, and the larger St. Monica community.
• Commitment to the Catholic mission of St. Monica Catholic Church and School.
• Complete Virtus safe environment training and a background check.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as:
• Must be able to sit for up to two hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse and typing
• Must be able to stand for up to two hours in the context of presentations or event planning
• Must be able to lift up to 25lbs on a frequent basis
Benefits Information:
• Salary based upon education and experience. Compensation range from $50,000-$75,000
• Medical, dental, and life insurance through the Archdiocese of Seattle
• Participation in the Archdiocesan pension program and voluntary 403b program
• In-building child/dependent tuition support
