Job Description:
The teacher will provide math instruction to students in grades 6-8. Classes include 6th grade general math, 7th grade general math, 7th grade pre-algebra, 8th grade pre-algebra, and 8th grade algebra. 7th and 8th grade classes are determined by student mastery of skills as measured by data and teacher recommendation. This creates smaller class sizes and allows for more individualized instruction. This position will provide additional math support to be determined by student needs.
This full-time position begins August 26th, 2024, with a weeklong staff in-service. Salary is based on the candidate’s education and experience.
Basic Requirements:
Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and current teaching license with a math endorsement. Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
Has teaching experience working with students in grades 6-8.
Effectively collaborates with others as a positive and contributing member of our school community. This includes being on learning communities and various committees.
Implements strong organizational skills.
Effectively communicates with staff, students, and families. This includes emails, phone calls, weekly newsletters, and family meetings.
Classroom Requirements:
Creates and implements rigorous, relevant, and engaging lessons for a diverse population to develop students’ critical thinking skills.
Implements differentiated instruction to support varying learning styles and honor Individual Student Support Plans.
Has knowledge of and integrates 21st-century learning skills, including the use of technology.
Utilizes data to drive classroom instruction and develop lesson plans.
Implements effective classroom management strategies. Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Strategies and Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Practices is preferred but not required.
