Middle School Science Teacher & Makerspace/STEM Assistant (Grades 6-8 for Science,
K-8 for Makerspace Support)
Notre Dame Elementary School (NDE), a private Catholic school, is committed to developing

Position Overview:
Notre Dame Elementary School is seeking a full-time Middle School Science Teacher who will
also assist in Makerspace/STEM classes for grades K-8. While the primary responsibility is
teaching science to grades 6-8, the candidate will provide instructional support in hands-on,
project-based STEM learning in our Makerspace for all grade levels. This is an excellent
opportunity for an educator passionate about science and innovation to engage students across
multiple age groups.
Requirements:

● Current teaching credential and experience teaching in a middle school classroom
● Solid knowledge of subject matter and how students learn
● Candidate should be collaborative, flexible, self-motivated, and interested in growing
professionally
● Teaching experience in the classroom at the elementary and middle school levels
● Ability to plan and implement a progressive curriculum that promotes a nurturing,
child-centered classroom
● Excellent writing and communication skills
Responsibilities:As a Middle School Science Teacher (Grades 6-8):
● Develops and maintains lesson and unit plans with clear outcomes
● Teaches content and skills utilizing California NGSS Science Standards
● Adapts material and methods to develop relevant, sequential assignments that engage, guide, and challenge all students in learning ● Encourages students to think independently and express original ideas ● Regularly checks for understanding and provides ongoing feedback to students on their learning ● Documents student learning and provides clear grading criteria to students ● Collaborates effectively with colleagues and parents As a Makerspace/STEM Assistant (Grades K-8): ● Assists the Makerspace/STEM teacher in facilitating hands-on learning experiences for students in grades K-8 ● Helps set up and organize materials for STEM projects and activities ● Supports students as they work through engineering, coding, robotics, and design challenges ● Encourages creativity and problem-solving skills in an interactive learning environment ● Provides additional guidance to students during projects as needed Additional Expectations: ● Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty meetings/committees ● A love of students and a sense of humor are required ● Knowledge of progressive education teaching techniques How to Apply: Please mail/email a cover letter, resume, and two current reference letters to: Notre Dame Elementary School 1200 Notre Dame Avenue Belmont, CA 94002 Contact: Kathleen Jeremiassen Job Type: Full-time Pay: $40,000.00 - $69,315.00 per year Benefits: ● Dental insurance ● Health insurance ● Life insurance ● Paid time off
