Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic School, a PK-8 parish school located in Sandy
Springs, Georgia, seeks a principal beginning July 1, 2024. A three-time U.S.
Department of Education Blue Ribbon School, Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic
School enrolls 483 students with a dedicated and professional staff of 38 teachers
and 36 ancillary staff members. The school is fully accredited through Cognia
District-Wide Accreditation and is a candidate for Cognia stem accreditation.
The Principal will have support staff including an Assistant Principal, Director of
Operations, Director of Enrollment, Director of Advancement and Technology. This
position reports to the Pastor of the parish and the superintendent of schools.

• There is one homeroom in Pre-K 4, two homerooms in grades K – 5, 7, and 8, and three
homerooms in grade 6.
• The class size for Pre-K 4 is 15 students. The class size for Kindergarten is 26. Generally,
there are 28 students in each of the 1st through 5th grade classrooms. Middle School
class sizes vary from 24 to 28 students.
• The school draws students from a large area including Sandy Springs, Dunwoody,
Brookhaven, Atlanta, Roswell, Marietta, Alpharetta, and as far north as Cumming.

History of Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic School
September 4, 1962, marked the official opening of Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic School.
Kindergarten and grades 1-4 were staffed by five lay teachers, and Father Stapleton assumed
the role of principal. The school, built on a portion of 17 acres of land donated by the Spalding
Family, housed 150 students in the “west corridor” of the building, while the “east corridor” was
the temporary church. The Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart of Philadelphia, led by Sister Sally
White as Principal, came to the school in the fall of 1963. With the arrival of the sisters, grades K
through 8 were staffed and, in June 1964, Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic School graduated its
first class with 18 students.
Qualifications & Requirements:
The successful candidate will be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church
who exhibits the ability to continue the tradition of high academic achievement while
maintaining the school’s strong Catholic identity.
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
• Minimum of three to five years of Catholic school administrative experience.
• Superior communication skills.
• A collaborative leadership style to lead others in the mission of Catholic education,
knowledgeable in current areas of professional development.
• Excellent instructional leadership.
