The Academy at St. Joan of Arc is looking for a reading interventionist and literacy coach that will support students, teachers, and administrators in the implementation of evidence-based reading practices. This dual role involves direct student intervention for those struggling with literacy and coaching teachers to enhance reading instruction across all grade levels (K-5). The goal is to improve literacy outcomes by identifying students in need, delivering targeted interventions, and building instructional capacity in staff.

Key Responsibilities:Reading Intervention (Student-Focused):

Provide small group or one-on-one reading interventions using research-based strategies and programs.
Use diagnostic tools (e.g., DIBELS, Fountas & Pinnell,) to identify students needing support and monitor progress.
Develop individualized intervention plans aligned with student needs.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education staff to support Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction (RTI/MTSS framework).
Maintain records and documentation of interventions, progress, and outcomes.
Literacy Coaching (Teacher-Focused):

Provide coaching and professional development to teachers in best practices for literacy instruction.
Model effective reading strategies in classrooms (e.g., guided reading, phonics instruction, shared reading).
Facilitate grade-level data meetings and collaborative planning sessions.
Support implementation of the school/district literacy curriculum and assessment protocols.
Assist teachers in analyzing student data to inform instruction.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education; Master’s degree in Reading, Literacy, or related field preferred.
Valid teaching certification with Reading Endorsement or Literacy Specialist credential.
Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably in elementary reading/language arts.
Training in structured literacy (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, LETRS) is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS/RTI).
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
