Stone Ridge is seeking a Full time Upper School Science Teacher to begin in August 2024.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. With over 750 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.
The Upper School Science Teacher is responsible for teaching in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. The desired candidate will:
* possess strong depth of knowledge in a discipline subject area and teaches physics at the high school level.
* work closely with colleagues in the Science Department and throughout the Upper School.
* create and update plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum.
* actively collaborates with Learning Strategists, Librarians, Educational Technologists, and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students.
* attends all faculty and employee meetings and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
Requirements and Qualifications
* has experience teaching physics or physical science, in a charter, public, independent and/or Catholic school.
* a track record of successful teaching, a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities, and experience integrating appropriate educational technologies into teaching.
* is familiar with Next Generation Science Standards for education, and Understanding by Design.
* demonstrates a desire to innovate, strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization and follow-through, creativity, and flexibility.
Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience.
