Ben DeMarais serves as Assistant Director of TutorND and as Pastoral Administrator for the New Orleans and Baton Rouge ACE Teaching Fellows communities.

Ben is a 2008 graduate of the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University. Ben's first teaching experience was at St. Laurent's primary school in Hanga, Tanzania, where he taught sixth grade math and english while serving with the Saint John's Benedictine Volunteer Corps through St. John's Abbey. This communal experience living closely with the monastic community, followed by four years living as the faculty resident on a first year floor at St. John's led Ben to ACE where he could further develop his vocation in education as a member of ACE 20.

As an ACE teacher, Ben taught high school physics at Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, Louisiana. After completing his M.Ed., Ben continued to work at Archbishop Shaw, implementing the school's engineering program, starting the FTC robotics team that he coached for six years, and serving as Assistant Head of School of Academics for four years. Ben is originally from Winona, Minnesota.
