Dawn Norman, Cohort 24
Middle School Teacher and Interventionist, St. Joseph's Catholic School - Boise, ID
My name is Dawn Norman, and the powerful impact of Catholic education greatly influenced my conversion to Catholicism. Twenty-one years ago, my son's preschool teachers invited me to Mass. Although I was not Catholic and uncertain of what to expect, I reluctantly accepted the invitation. At that moment, my life changed forever. The Holy Spirit touched my heart, and I knew, without a doubt, that I was being called to join the Catholic Church.
Catholic schools hold a special place in my heart. I have experienced their ability to evangelize and serve as instruments of the Missionary Spirit.
I earned my degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and began my teaching career at the local public school, where I completed my internship. While I was grateful for this opportunity, I felt my true calling was at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School—where my faith journey began. Although a position wasn’t available immediately, I consider my time in public education a valuable part of my professional and spiritual growth, as it provided me with insight and empathy for students transitioning from public to Catholic schools.
For the past three years, I have had the incredible blessing of teaching at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in St. Cloud, Florida. Serving in the place that sparked my conversion has been a significant, full-circle experience. After much prayer and discernment, my family and I feel called to a new chapter. I am excited to begin a Middle School and Interventionist role at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Boise, Idaho.
Throughout the past school year, I have found deep fulfillment in leadership responsibilities—whether mentoring new teachers, leading departmental teams, or fostering positive relationships with parents and staff. These experiences have awakened a desire to pursue leadership in Catholic education further. Midway through the school year, I felt a call to graduate studies to expand my capacity to lead and serve.
I am thrilled to join the Remick Leadership Program, which I recognize as the premier path to becoming the best Catholic school leader I can be. I am eager to grow in faith, knowledge, and service and to make a meaningful impact on students, families, and colleagues—helping each one discover and live out their God-given potential.
