In college, I was searching. My faith felt incomplete. God brought me into a Bible Study filled with charismatic Catholics and in my senior year, I was received into the Catholic Church. I’ve been an enthusiastic catechist ever since! My faith brings me joy, even in (especially in) the times I struggle. After teaching public high school, and then homeschooling my own children, I felt called to Catholic education.

In the coming school year, I will serve as principal of St. Michael’s School in San Diego, CA. We are the largest PK-8 Catholic school in our diocese, with over 600 students and 67 staff. Thankfully, our former principal is staying on as president and will mentor me with her 20+ years of leadership experience. I taught religion at St. Michael’s for six years and then taught one year of high school religion after finishing my MA in Theology. I quickly discerned middle school as my favorite age (seriously!) and wanted to return to my former school. I currently serve as the vice principal with a faith-filled team of staff and teachers.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to become a Remick leader. Yes, balancing the rigor of Remick, serving as a first year principal, and fulfilling my family responsibilities will be demanding. Thankfully, I have a supportive team at St. Michael’s and faith in Romans 8:28. “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” I’m confident Remick will form us all into good leaders. No, not good leaders - the best leaders in Catholic education.
