Fr. David Murray, C.S.C., was born in central Illinois, the son of an art teacher and college football coach, and attended the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Professional Studies. Following graduation, and at the invitation of a Holy Cross priest who lived in his residence hall, Fr. David entered the Alliance for Catholic Education program (ACE), earning a Master of Education degree in 2015. He was sent by ACE to teach science at a Catholic high school in Memphis, TN, and it was through this experience of service through education and community life where he felt God's call to join religious life in the Congregation of Holy Cross. After five years as a teacher in Memphis, David entered seminary with Holy Cross and, while in formation, David had the opportunity to serve in many roles - in parishes and schools around the country - including one year as an Assistant Rector in Keough Hall - go Roos! He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in the spring of 2024 and, over the course of the '24-'25 academic year, professed final vows and was ordained a priest in the Congregation of Holy Cross.
