Thomas Lahey, Cohort 24
Assistant Principal of Student Life & Discipline
St. Joseph School
Cottleville, MO
My name is Tommy Lahey, and I am honored to join this incredible group of future Catholic school leaders. My calling began during my college years when I first realized the transformative love of God. This sparked a deep desire to share that love with others, and I answered the call through retreat ministry, military service, youth ministry, coaching soccer, teaching high school Theology, and now, as a new Assistant Principal at St. Joseph School in Cottleville, Missouri. Each of these experiences has shaped me, preparing me for the important work of leading in Catholic education.
My time as an officer in the U.S. Air Force was foundational in developing my leadership skills. I learned the true meaning of servant leadership—always putting others first—and how to navigate the challenges of leading in diverse and high-pressure environments. In addition to my military service, my mission work in places like Saudi Arabia, Jamaica, and the Bronx deepened my understanding of Christ’s mercy and strengthened my resolve to be a compassionate, servant leader. Teaching Theology and coaching at three Catholic high schools has been my mission for the past fourteen years, and I have had the opportunity to share the love of Christ with thousands of students.
I am deeply grateful to donors like you for your generous financial support, which has made it possible for me to pursue this calling to Catholic school leadership. Their contribution is not only an investment in my education but in the mission of Catholic schools to bring Christ into the hearts of students, families, and communities. As I continue my journey, I am inspired by the opportunity to lead schools where Christ is central in all aspects of life. I look forward to learning and growing with Cohort 24, and I am thankful for the opportunity to be part of this program that will help me fulfill this calling.
