La Salle Academy is an independent Catholic School whose mission is to provide a quality education to students of low income in the tradition of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and the Sisters of St. Joseph in an extended day and extended year model.

The fourth grade teacher is responsible for educating the whole child by enabling students to develop spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially, morally.

The 4th grade teacher is responsible for teaching Catholic Religion, Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.

Personal Growth Environment: Creating a safe learning environment which promotes risk taking, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication as well as the five goals of being respectful, responsible, consistent, motivated, and peaceful.

Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development: Creating age appropriate, creative lesson plans for all students as well as providing differentiated lessons according to students’ gifts and talents.

Multicultural Teaching Methods: Teaching material and activities that are inclusive and celebrates the cultures of all people with the goal of promoting inclusivity and respect for all.

Student Evaluation and Progress: The fourth grade teacher must keep a record of the students’ progress and adjust teaching to address students’ needs for remediation and/or enrichment. Teachers must document student progress by offering timely constructive criticism to students regarding school work and assessments as well as maintaining a system where parents/guardians are made aware of students’ progress and provide formal progress reports, report cards and report conferences. Teachers are to collaborate with school administration, other teaching staff, and auxiliary personnel to ensure that students benefit from all possible learning assistance.

Classroom Inventory Maintenance: The teacher is responsible for maintaining the classroom inventory records. An essential role of the teacher is to develop relationships with parents/guardians which support their role as the primary teachers of their children and maintain open communication with the parents/guardians.

Requirements of Fourth Grade Teacher:

  • Strong desire to support the school’s mission
  • Willingness to be a positive role model to his/her students
  • Bachelor Degree preferably in Education
  • State Certification in Education is preferred
  • State Police Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Clearance are required
  • Willingness to be an active member of a dedicated faculty/staff
  • Proficiency in technology, especially using Smart Board, Google Suite
